OUR HIKING TOURS IN ANDORRA

We propose tours for small groups to minimise the impact on the local environment. We use locally run hotels and activity operators who guarantee excellent service at a low price.

These tours are active trips requiring no previous experience, but you do need to be able to walk. Days of mountain walking can be a rigorous test of stamina, but we believe anyone in good health should be capable of participating. The difficulty of the walks will depend on the ability of the group and is adjusted accordingly.

Magical Andorra
This is a 7 day walking tour in Andorra. A well-known destination for skiing in the winter, Andorra becomes a paradise for nature-lovers in the summer months, but besides the natural beauty you will see picturesque little villages that nestle into the valley slopes and pretty, well preserved medieval buildings. You will be able to be absorbed in times gone by and try the life of shepherds and smugglers.



This tour is starts from St Julia de Loria and follows routes GRP, GP 7 and GR 11 to Arinsal, stopping 5 nights in different hotels and 1 night in a mountain refuge. For nights spent in hotels, luggage is forwarded so as to be ready on arrival. The approximate walking time is 6-7 hours per day, and it is ideally suited to those experienced trekkers who enjoy a demanding experience and is NOT for those wanting a more relaxed experience.

This is a 7 day walking tour in Andorra. Discover some of the most beautiful landscape in all of the Pyrenees, as well as spectacular mountain lakes which are among Andorra's chief glories, from our comfortable hotels based in Encamp and Soldeo. You will see well preserved medieval churches and temples, as well as being able to try unforgettable mountain cuisine and learn about local traditions and customs.


This tour is starts from Encamp and mainly follows route GR 11, stopping 6 nights in hotels: 4 - in Encamp and 2 - in Soldeo. For nights spent in the second hotel, luggage is forwarded so as to be ready on your arrival there. Day 1: Welcome to Andorra

After your arrival in Barcelona, you will be taken to your first night's accommodation in Andorra, which will take around 3 hours. After check-in at your hotel in Encamp you will have welcome meeting and introduction to provide an explanation of the plan for the next day. After this you will have an opportunity to visit the capital of Andorra, Andorra-la-Vella, followed by dinner in your hotel in the evening.


Day 2: Pardines-Engolasters

From Encamp to Cortals d'Encamp
Distance: 9000 m
Elevation change: 800 m
Duration: 6 h


After breakfast you will start your first hike in Andorran mountains. On the way to Engolasters Lake you will pass through a tunnel and past a few fountains and benches. The dirt road winds itself along the mountain side and suddenly you will arrive at the lake. Reaching the dam you can have a scenic walk around the lake and you will have an the opportunity to visit the underground tunnel below the dam, used to produce electricity and dates from 1934.

The Camí de les Fonts path will take you through a beautiful forest. Just after the foot tunnel, you will see some stairs leading up to a mirador. From there, you can enjoy a wonderful view of Escaldes and Andorra-la-Vella. Continue along the path to the picnic area where you will try typical mountain food.

After lunch you will cross crossing the Campea forest famous by its mushrooms in season and reach the road Cortals d'Encamp where a car will wait for you to take back to hotel.



Day 3: Col d'Ordino

From Encamp to Encamp

Elevation change: 1000 m
Duration: 7 h


After a nice breakfast you will climb from the little village of Les Bons to see the Romanesque 12th Century chapel of St Rome, which has a 13th century watchtower. After an hour of climbing up the path, which zigzags through the dense woods of the shady Mas and the Cantallops stream, you will be surprised when the pines disappear to open out on Les Cases pass.

You will get unique panoramic views across the mountains of Ordino and, of course, La Massana. It is the ideal place to relax and have a picnic – a car will take you back to hotel .



Day 4: Rec del Sola

From Andorra la Vella to Encamp
Distance: 5000 m
Elevation change: 25 m
Duration: 2 h

This day is designed to let you gather strength for next two intensive days. So, after breakfast you will go to Andorra la Vella by a car. In the capital of the country you will have the opportunity to visit museums and have some time for shopping – it has very attractive prices because Andorra is a tax heaven. After some snacks in a local bar you will start a nice 2 hours peaceful walk along the Rec del Sola path, which well known for its beautiful panoramic views.

In the afternoon you will visit Caldea - Europe's largest health spa that offers 6,000 square metres of inside and outside lagoons, saunas, jacuzzis, a grapefruit pool, an Aztecian pool, Indo-Roman baths, cascades, bubble beds, warm marble slates, and much much more. Caldea uses the water from the thermal source in Escaldes-Engordany which has a temperature of 68º. You will finish this relaxing day dinning at a well known local restaurant called Demos after which you will be taken back to your hotel


Day5: Hike to Soldeu

From Encamp to Soldeu
Distance: 11000 m
Elevation change: 600 m
Duration: 6 h

Your morning starts with an early breakfast. Leaving Encamp you will pass the little church of St Miquel. The age of this church is uncertain, although it was rebuilt in the 19th century. The inside houses a pretty late 16th-century altarpiece dedicated to the patron saints of the chapel and the village of La Mosquera – the Archangel Michael and Saint John the Baptist, as well as some Romanesque paintings which represent the transfiguration of Christ and decorate the vault and walls.

Following your way through forests of red and black pine with scenic views you can visit Sanctuary of Meritxell - a historical record of the Andorran people's devotion to their patron saint: The Virgin of Meritxell. The old chapel dedicated to Santa Maria, originally Romanesque, suffered serious reforms during the 17th century. It was burnt down in 1972 and rebuilt in 1994.

On your further way you will see the legendary Cross of the 7 arms and the Church of Sant Joan de Caselles in Canillo - a fine example of the Andorra Romanesque architecture. The church was built between the 11th and 14th centuries and it is the tallest church-tower of Andorra. Canillo boasts of a picturesque setting, standing amidst a beautiful valley surrounded by mountains.

It the end of this long but beautiful hike a tasty dinner and a cosy room will wait for you at hotel in Soldeu.



Day 6: Incles valley

From Encamp to Soldeo
Distance: 7000 m
Elevation change: 500 m
Duration: 4 h

This morning, following breakfast, you will be on the way to the Incles Valley. It is a typical “U”-shaped glacial valley, and its flora and fauna are also highlights. It is the largest parish in the country covering an approximate area of 109 km2, which is home to a myriad of interesting flora and fauna, including firs, hooked pine and Scots pine, elder, alpenrose, bilberry and dandelion, amongst others. It is also home to a wide variety of animals such as ravens, cuckoos, wood grouse, partridges, woodpeckers, squirrels, the Pyrenean chamois and free-roaming horses. This is a beautiful walk with amazing views, lakes and waterfalls.

At the end of the walk you will enjoy mountain cuisine after which a car will take you back to the hotel.

Day 7: Time to say goodbye

This morning, after breakfast, you transfer to the airport in Barcelona.

Andorra's main walking route, The Andorra GRP, has no difficult or dangerous sections and crosses the Principality in its entirety, with some sections coinciding with the GR-7, GR-11 and the GR Transfrontiers.
